I haven't seen the new WOTW yet, and frankly I'm in no hurry to. From what I've heard Spielberg say about it, it sounds to me like the movie's "American Refugee" concept is just another expression of his nationalist mentality (this is how it feels when they do this to us). Welles' story was about colonization: in the novel, the masters of Planet Earth find out what how the lower-downs must feel when WE do this to THEM. To my knowledge, no filmmaker dealing with WOTW has ever been faithful to this.

How can you say that? Tom Cruise (a mediocre actor I must admit) put in what I thought to be a wonderfully understated performance, and the girl playing his daughter was wonderful. The direction was superb and the suspense perfectly realised. I would go so far as to call it one of the best summer blockbusters of all time, and is number 2 on my list of best films of 2005 (Sin City being first). I wonder if maybe you and I were watching different films, as I thought this to be a wonderful time at the movies.

I rarely if ever go 2movies and I went to this one with great anticipation, mu sister and I walked out of the theater so disappointed disgust, we simply couldn't believe it was awful/ BAC ACTING, BAD SCRIPT WAS NOT SCARE AT ALL. Independence Day puts this movie to shame, in fact I have seen some B or even C movies better than this. We are not negative people but what a big disappointment. You wait until you see it and you will be shaking your head too...???
