Aragorn arrogant?! Te whole point was that he didn't want to be King and was rejecting his heritage. Al through the fellowship he struggles with leading the company and accepting his destiny to go to gondor. There was strife between Boromir and Aragorn because Borimir wanted him to accept his duty as king but aragorn didn't have enough faith in himself and his country yet. you call that arrogant? by the way, he journeyed for years alone with a broken sword to learn and prove himself worthy of Arwen. Did you guys actually read the books?

Mirkwood dweller(see I specified) what are you talking about? Aragorn is very aragant. I don't hold it against him, but he is. And what does being arogant have to do with whetehr or not someone is heir to the throne of Gondor? I thought that was a birthright thing not a personality test. And lastly Aragorn didn't have ANY job. As a ranger he was homeless once he stopped bumming of off Elrond and Arwen at Rivendel. A job at a burger joint would probably fix him with some much needed cash. That's all.

No you idiot! It's fantasy in the books, if you were future king of Gondor, would you wander around defenseless? Actually you would never be future king of Gondor, your way too arrogant for your own good. I havnt seen any future kings with burger bar jobs by the way, you might consider some ambition. How old are you?

Well I think this message board could go on forever the only thing is that Tolkin Wanted these books to be like lore that theay were almost real (It sais this in the intro to Silmarian I think or the lost tales) And since Tokin never really finisheed writing them I guess we will never know

"It's common sense to carry a sword with you just incase" Yes, I carry one with me always --to college, to my job at the burger place, to the movie theater on Friday nights --it always helps in case you have to slay somebody or rescue them from Phantoms of the Dark. And all those door-check people just let my carry my sword, visibly hanging from my chainmail belt --happy in the knowledge that my presence will keep Dangerous People away.

It's common sense to carry a sword with you just incase, especially when you could possibly be the future king of gondor. He wouldnt just wander around weaponless, I think he has a bit more common sense than that surely!

I hate it in the films where theres a really important bit, eg when Sams motavating Frodo to go on, and suddenly Sam lets slim an American accent! No offense to any Americans, but it kind of rewins the whole speech! Sam's supposed to have a dorset accent. Does anyone else agree with me?

True of Boromir - but all the stuff about "not claiming the Kingship" is an invention of Peter Jackson, there was no evidence that Aragorn carried a sword, and had to resort to fire as his main weapon. "Rope," muttered Strider. "I knew I'd want it, if I hadn't got it."

1. Denathor sent Boromir to Rivendell to go to a meeting about the secret weapon of the enemy right? So it stands to reason he should'nt be accompanied by a platoon of Gondorian soldiers because that would give away something suspicious is happening in Rivendell!
2. Aragorn has chosen against the path of the King, and has decided to be a ranger instead. Therefore even if the enemy was looking for him they would have no idea where to look, which is far better than destroying Rivendell to find him.
3. Aragorn does carry a sword with him when he's "rangering". Plus he doesnt actually keep the brokens fragments of Narsil on him either, they are kept in Rivendell, but rightly belong to him.
P.S Sorry about the long rant! Please post back.

Yes, I'm sure Elessar, like Samwise, knows the value of a good piece of rope!

His best weapon was secrecy...Sauron didn't know that an heir to Isildur still lived. He probably had another weapon though, he did say he had "some skill as a hunter at need". Maybe he used string. String can be deadly.
The knife, bow and unnamed sword were inventions of the movie. Gosh, it's been a while since I've been here.

ok for one, he does not wander weaponless (he carries the sword, knife in the scabbard for the sword, and the bow), unless you are talking about sum1 else. i alos thought his name was aragorn not aragron. i must say your second paragraph with faramir made me laugh

alicia, in answer to your question (like a month late, i realize) "what are you on about?" the person who wrote that blurb thing above misspelled Aragorn and called him Aragon, not to be confused, Strider, with Eragon, the main character in Christopher Paolini's book. Paolini SAYS he named him by rearranging the letters in 'dragon' but that is still open to dispute.

Urm duh! he had wepons! aragon? isn't that the name of some other bok carecter? or mabe its speled diferent... and he didn't need a bunch of peple w/ him he coud fite for himself. Boromir only came to the council at Rivendell alone. He din't need a bunch of gards w/ him at the time. Feromir probably woodnt have had peple w/ him if he wasnt at som place, and then at war. whoever wrote this thing was eether reely dumb or never red the book
