Dr. McCoy sports a lot of warts, I imagine, because, as a doctor, he experimented a lot with frogs--effects of deep space travel on amphibians--things like that.

In the 23rd century, because of all the aliens and other wierd looking lifeforms intermingling with other wierd looking lifeforms like human beings, klingons, them green women, daleks etc perspectives of beauty have expanded. Warts are seen as aesthetically acceptable because they look a bit like the ridges that many lifeforms have on their faces e.g. klingons and romulans. Maybe Mcoy thought he wouldn't bother having them removed because he either thought they looked ok or that he might get lucky with some knobbly alien chick or a warty human. What do you think?
