The Legend of the Rangers
I had high hopes for the first B5 TV movie in a long time. But "Legend of the Rangers" was lame from start to finish. The storyline was acceptable, if not very imaginative--VIP ambassadors get attacked, have to be defended/escorted by good guys--but what was really, really grating was the characters and the combat.
The Captain looks straight out of casting from Space Above and Beyond, or Starship Troopers, or 90210, or any teen-anguish show. The first officer is the typical B5 butch woman, with a twist. Butchie is the weapons officer, which means she floats in a zero G simulator where she fires the ships weapons by throwing punches and kicks at the enemy ships!
This looks extremely ridiculous, like a Mel Brooks parody, as Butchie uses karate to subdue the enemy ships. What's more, the expression on Butchie's face as she grits her teeth during her boxing moves only adds to the comical effect.
The other characters are the usual PC collection of minority tokens who were given no real characterizations by the writers. None of them have the presence of, say, Tyr Anasazi of Andromeda.
Nothing really extraordinary happens in the story; there are no giant space battles with giant ships, or large artifacts discovered. Instead we are simply treated to scenes of Captain 90210 posing for the cameras and Butchie punching the alien ships.
"The Legend of the Rangers" was so bad that it was almost as bad as a typical Enterprise episode.

Lame, yes, and nothing but a spin-off for a series, but without series, and that way cheap, absurd, and,....did i say cheap already?
Only Andreas Katsulas was an asset to watch there, and he played well indeed, like he always did. Beside him the whole story was as cheap as one of those Start Treck end-of-the world ideas.... sorry for repeating the word cheap so many times,...oh well....

I have just seen B5 Legend of the rangers, and for anyone who is thinking about seeing it DON'T! Trust me on this or risk loosong any appriciation for the sci-fi genre. Despite being made in 2k2 the grapics ont the enemy warships is just bad, and the allied warships look nothing like anything the rangers use. The acting and dialouge have a strong resembelance to baywatch, on top of that the drazi is fat and stupid, how did he survive when they were choosing their leaders? Drazi are wariors born and bread he should be at the weaponstation, but no he is carrying big things around the ship while the human woman is at weapons. Dont get me wrong i like women i just have a problem with 5hit acting and major plot errors. It's not even a weapons station it's a 0g environment where you can throgh fireballs at the enemy. This is a membary warship not a dragon they use green lazers not fireballs. The enemy is so stupid you could spray bad guy on the side of your ship and they would let you pass if they can actualy read. Before i saw this film i read similar reviews to this and thought people were exagerating the screw up, please do not make the same mistake.

This movie broke my heart. I knew that it was the last of the B5 univers that would be seen for a long time or forever. The last I heard there is a movie being planned. Will it have enough appeal to put some life in to this Universe. One can only hope but to bring in new people and to satisfy us sci-fi nerds ( sorry to those I may offend it's taking back my power)is a real task
